Jai & EL

Imagine all the people

It’s a September day, a Saturday afternoon to be exact. College football is on, weather is fine and we are still in New fucking Jersey. The produce is yummy this time of year so I’m not complaining too much. Oh, right we are in New Jersey by way of the Florida Keys, and Charleston SC. We got here early July and have been here ever since. Catching up on appointments and such. Seeing friends, some family, and Mama of course. Jai needed emergency eye surgery (she’s recovering well!) & The RV will go in the shop on November 1 to get warranty AND repair work done. You’ll know an update when we know one.

We watched our first Olympics/Paralympics with Ashe, and of course we had her compete in made up events through out both. While we obviously cheer on our country of the United States of America, we were in support of all the human race wiiiiiiiith maybe (emphasis on maybe) a bit more in favor of all women.

I left my last entry off in th Keys celebrating my birthday. Unfortunately, there wasn’t too much celebrating as Mama got sick, then Jai, then me waking up to it the morning of. If that was a glimpse into what this year will hold, I should probably hold on tight. Regardless of being run down we made the best of it. Mama got to experience some of what Key West has to offer, so much so that she wants to head on back! Sammy turned 10! TEN! Two whole paws!! We gave her all of the pretzels! They are her favorite thing in the whole world. Besides her Mama. And her Mama Jai. And Gunk. Ok Gus, Gus is her most favorite thing in the whole world. But for now, she is ok with having pretzels. We stopped a few days in Orlando since I got pretty run down. I needed to listen to my body and rest. Once I was at full speed again, onward to Charleston. And yes, we were there before (during the pandemic) we loved it much more this time around. Thanks to a friendly neighborhood human at local coffee shop in North Charleston! Ashe still talks about that dog park we took her to. We had three dog tired girls on our hands that afternoon.

So big, yet so small. The world. The female community. The military community. The lesbian community. The RV community. The universe chose four humans (now 5) within these same five communities to align at the same time. We met on base in South Carolina, and just hung out for the few weeks we were there learning, cooking, laughing and making plans to hopefully reconnect.

We have already gotten to spend time with our niece Penny and look forward to next weekend with her!! Ashe loves walking to the mail room, especially if there’s mail (for her) and Nala is sucking up being on the side pawtoIo as much as she can. Thanksgiving is up in the air because of my VA care in Saint Petersburg. Christmas will most likely be in North Carolina. Lots of moving parts right now.
